Happy Friday!

Good afternoon!  I hope everyone had a wonderful week!

Here are some important announcements:

1. Our ninth grade girls are starting a tutorial program that will be held every Tuesday afternoon from 3:20 until 4:15.  They will tutor any student in the middle school - grades six through eight.  Any student who needs help in a subject is welcome to attend.  This program is free to all participants.  Those who attend are asked to bring the textbook and notes for the subject(s) in which help is needed.

This program will be supervised by Mrs. Bowden, Mrs. Helms, Mrs. Moody, and Mrs. Pirtle and will be held in Mrs. Pirtle's room (215) and Mrs. Moody's room (217).  Both of these classrooms are near Ms. Ellis' room.

The first session will be held Tuesday, January 20th.  The second session will be Tuesday, January 27.  Tutoring will not take place on Tuesday, February 3, because the eighth graders will be in Washington D. C.  Tutoring will resume on Tuesday, February 10.

At 4:15, students can be picked up in the carpool area near Willett Hall.  We are asking parents to please be prompt.

I would like to say a very big THANK YOU to Mrs. Bowden, Mrs. Helms, Mrs. Moody, and Mrs. Pirtle, as well as our ninth grade girls for making these tutoring sessions available.  I strongly encourage you to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.

2. Eighth Grade Parents: Our Washington, D. C. trip is quickly approaching, and I am looking forward to a great time with your children in our nation's capital.  In the coming days, we will be seeing a good bit of Washington on TV and in the papers as America makes yet another peaceful transfer of power.  Please encourage your children to watch some of the events surrounding the upcoming inauguration, paying particular attention to some of the places we will visit such as the White House, Capitol and the various monuments.  It also wouldn't hurt to talk some about our representative system of government, and the fact that we have been able to turn such awesome power over peacefully on a regular basis for for over 200 years.

3. Please remember that Monday, January 19, is a school holiday.  Classes will resume Tuesday, January 20.
